I feel so sad for my friend who lost her husband of 40 years today. I am wondering how she must be feeling, and if it feels empty and bleak, or rich and soft with big tears. I guess she is going to feel a range of different uncomfortable emotions for the foreseeable future.… Read the rest

Virtual co-regulation or the start of something challenging
Some therapists believe that the pathway to secure attachment lies in healing of our dysregulated nervous systems. This is the realm of Polyvagal theory. It makes sense to me intellectually. However, engaging in the co-regulating practices through a computer screen this evening leaves me feeling worse than when I began the workshop.… Read the rest
understanding men
It is so interesting to learn about male psychology and biology. I am noticing that I perceive men in such a different way as I build this knowledge. I see them ‘from their point of view’ rather than through a woman’s lens.… Read the rest
the stigma, perhaps, , , is that it?
I spoke to a psychologist friend of mine today.
Two things came out of the conversation.

Negotiating a trauma bond
Dear goodness…I am so grateful that I will have my first appointment with a sexual assault counsellor next week. Winnicott transitional object in adult life

Something funny
In my defence, haha.
Instagram has been feeding me such wonderful supportive posts lately, seemingly based on the pain I have been feeling. But there is nothing better than comedy for healing, am I right?

The capacity to roar – further reflections on this communication connection
It is so strange to reflect on what this relatively new internet communication connection is doing to my psychology. Today I am noticing that I am actually becoming angry if I perceive that someone is treating me like crap. Or if I am engaging in behaviour that is in some way disempowering to myself.… Read the rest
A fly in the ointment – real-life
Have you ever considered the way that social media (or any form of social interaction) on the interweb impacts your real-world social life? I Googled ‘social media is making us antisocial’ (or a near variant) when I got home tonight. Something awful is happening to me and to my brain lately.… Read the rest
